3 Layered New Years Eve Outfits for Inspiration!

I know, I know your trying to find the cutest thing to wear for New Years Eve! Its a lot of pressure picking out the outfit your going to wear into the new year. You want to look cute but put together, stylish but not too trendy, casual but fancy, all at the same time. I get it, especially if your going to a party or get together. If you already have anxiety when going out and you struggle to find your style every time you enter the closet. You have come to the right place, I GOT YOU! Here are 3 layered new years eve outfits to inspire you!

While were talking about the new year I will let you in on some of our goals for this year as Nicolee Designs continues to grow! So here are 3 outfits and 3 goals for 2022!

1. Y O U ' R E A S T A R! (f a n c y)

Outfit description:

One of my favorite things about clothes and fashion is materials. This outfit is all about the materials!! I love upscaling a look by paring it with beautiful fabrics that shine and elevate yourself by sparkling under the moon.

Undershirt/Blouse: This blouse is from H&M (I really try not to give into fast fashion but sometimes I can't resist! I'm only human LOL). It was made in Indonesia & is made of 97% Polyester & 3% Elastane. Some interesting facts about these materials and their environmental impact - "It may seem like polyester might be sustainable, since it is recyclable. However, there are significant limitations to polyester recycling. It is far more difficult to recycle polyester when it is blended with other fabrics, which proves to be problematic because a significant amount of polyester goods are blended with other fabrics (van Elven)." - digitalcommons.bard.edu "Pin elastane against cotton, polyester, and other common fabrics it may often be compared to....When choosing between elastane and other fabrics, a general rule of thumb is to choose natural. Man-made textiles will have the same environmental issues as elastane." - treehugger.com

Dress: This beautiful Dress is from Target, the brand is Wild Fable and it was Made in China. I think it is so important to pay attention to what your wearing, how it was made, what it is made of and where it was made. This particular dress is made of 98% Polyester & 2% Spandex/Elastane+ 100% Recycled Polyester :) (that makes me happy!)

Gilet Style Coat: Finally a thrifted item!! I have had this coat since I was in fashion school. Someone donated it to our program, I wore it all the time! I even wore this when I traveled to New York and I felt like a Queen! I don't think I can ever get rid of this one. This brand is Donna Morgan and it was made in China. The material is 100% Polyester (which is good! "...from a consumer care standpoint – polyester garments last a really long time and require less water, energy and heat for washing." cfda.com )

Shoes: These boots are also thrifted! They were brand new when I got them. They are simple black with diagonal zippers on the insides. I don't know what brand these shoes are but they are made from all manmade materials in China.

Necklace & Bag: My Necklace & Bag were both Gifts from very special people in my life! I will just share a little about each. The necklace is from Kay Jewelers & the bag is by the designer Michael Kors.

Scarf: I have also had this scarf for as long as I can remember. The brand is V.FRAAS it is 100% Acrylic Cashmink and was made in Germany! Here are some facts about Acrylic Fabrics - "Acrylic clothing is one of the main sources of microplastics in the ocean, even higher than polyester and polyester blends. The journey to aquatic environments begins with a simple washing in a washing machine where about 730,000 individual fibers are released per wash." - Treehugger.com

First Goal for 2022: Growth! Of course one of our goals this year is to grow our business. Not only do we have a YouTube channel, a blog, 3 social media accounts and on the way to starting an Esty account. With all this it can be a lot to grow each one. We don't just want to grow followers or traffic, we want to sell products, have a posting schedule and learn about how to operate a successful sustainable brand. This is FINALLY my full time job and I am so excited for this journey!

2. Y O U C A N S I T W I T H U S (s e m i - c a s u a l)

Outfit description:

For Semi-Casual looks I love to mix nice or unique materials with Jean. Adding a blazer to anything you would normally wear to meet a friend for lunch will immediately upscale your look! For this outfit I paired items I would normally wear to a fancy date with a jean dress! Add some cute boots because its freezing outside & you have a look that is perfect for a New Years Even bomb fire/dinner party. Let me know what you think!

Undershirt/Blouse: Another Item I could not resist from a fast fashion store... Ross. I know I am so ashamed LOL. But this top is cute, I just love the florentine neckline! The brand is Almost Famous, it was made in China, and is 97% Polyester & 3% Spandex.

Dress: This black jean dress is another thrifted item! It is from Urban Outfitters, made in Turkey, & the care tag is cut off so I am not sure of all the materials in this dress. "Although originally denim was made of wool, the trend shifted to cotton. Cotton cultivation and processing has sustainability issues: it requires 1500 gallons of water to grow 1.5 pounds of cotton that is needed to produce a pair of jeans." - Environmental impacts of denim. K.Amutha

Winged Collar Jacket: The brown blazer is my first thrifted item from New Mexico! I instantly fell in love when I saw this, mostly because of how cool the collar and sleeves are! I gravitate towards unique items like this. The brand is Garfield & Marks, made in the USA, specifically New York City! The materials it is made up of is 86% WV - Virgin Wool, 8% PC- Acrylic, 6% Wool. -"Because fleeces regrow every year after shearing, wool is a natural, renewable fiber source, making it one of the most sustainable sources of clothing...." However..."A controversial procedure called mulesing has caused many fashion brands to boycott wool in recent years. Mulesing is painful and bloody and has been banned in New Zealand, but is still practiced in parts of Australia. People shopping for wool should look for non-mulesed products." - Treehugger.com

Boots: These brown boots are AZ Chet Riding boots. They were made in china & made from all manmade materials.

Purse: This purse is from Target! It is called an Envelope Purse and I use it pretty much everyday! It is my go to bag for quick trips. The brand is also Wild Fable.

Second Goal for 2022: Selling Products!

I have been calling this a business for so long but many of you have not really seen why. I have been working on altering other peoples clothes for the past 5+ years. My first long time customer was actually a friend from high school and it was a guy!! I was so surprised. He would always come to me to alter his pants and shirts and I loved it. This was when I first started offering services.

Then I just kept doing it. I have done men's pants to wedding dresses to fashion from scratch! People have really enjoyed it and I always enjoy when a client gets emotional over something they love. But, with all these alterations I never really filmed a lot of it and I wanted my brand to be uniquely me. Designs that I have created, not taking in a skirt and calling it a design by nicole. I want to show the world my creative brain and what I can really do.

So our ideas for this year is to start small with custom embroidered scrunchies, as you may have seen in our First Product Launch Blog or on our Instagram. This is just a stepping stone to our much bigger ideas. Eventually I will be selling collections of clothes online for anyone to purchase. Everything is going to be unique, sustainable, and not available for repurchase! YOU will be the only one with that particular item. FUN!

3. I M S H Y B U T I S W E A R I A M C O O L (c a s u a l)

Outfit description:

This outfit is a take on the little black winter dress but pair it with your boyfriends clothes to create a casual, warm and comfortable New Years look!

Dress: Yet again. Another thrifted find. If you can't tell already, I loved thrifting clothes. This dress is from the brand Byron Bay, it was made in china & the materials it is made up of is 55% Viscose & 45% Nylon. Viscose - "This semi-natural fabric comes with a few major environmental concerns. Starting from the raw materials side, upward of 150 million trees need to be logged every year to create viscose, making it a potential driver of illegal deforestation." - mbgplanet.com / Nylon - "Like polyester, nylon is made from a non-renewable resource (oil) in an energy-intensive process. It sheds microplastic fibers that end up in waterways and oceans every time it is washed, and because it is not biodegradable, it will end up sitting in a landfill at the end of its product life cycle." - greenbiz.com

Shoes: The shoes I am wearing are the newest addition to my closet. I got these rain style ankle booties from Target. They are the brand A New Day, made in china with manmade materials.

Purse: The purse for this look is also Michael Kors. I thrifted this bag for $35!!

Finally, Our Last Goal for 2022: Staying ahead!

This is both professionally and personally. Running a business full time will definitely require a lot of time. Sometimes its not just an 8 hour day. A lot of the time I lose track of how long I have been working and I just break to eat. I need to learn how to stay ahead of my schedule so I can be consistent, be able to have time to interact with an audience and have time to take a break and self care. Staying ahead is huge in this industry, not only content but also predicting trends for fashion and staying ahead of the game. This is what I love though, I love schedules, I love lists & I love a challenge!! So BRING IT ON 2022!

I hope you guys enjoyed this fashion inspiration for your new years eve look! I had so much fun putting this look together and I really hope this helped! Please feel free to leave a comment and share this blog if you enjoyed it!
