Surrounded by Black Lace

If you could design a planet, what would your planet look like? Interesting question right? Of course you probably think I am going to talk about world peace and everyone being kind to each other and hippy type vibes but actually I think it would be pretty cool to live in a world that looked like the Lorax. Imagine if the trees in the picture above were furry pink and orange trees with leaves made of silk and animals that were so cute and they sang to you! I mean come on, it doesn't really get better than that.

Okay okay, why am I talking about designing a planet? Well, If you read my last blog, which you should, I talked about taking a breather every now and then, and now that we have been practicing being more aware of our breath I wanted to talk about what surrounds us every day. If that's cool with you.

Leaving the University was the best thing that ever happened to me last semester. The best decision I have made in quite awhile. I'm not saying you need to drop out of school to be happy but for me it has really allowed me to focus and study myself.

While on this exploration to find myself, I have learned all that I can control. We control how we feel, how we act, how we react, and how we talk to ourselves about ourselves. No one can make you feel sad or mad, that is all you honey.

This is why I wanted to talk about who and what we surround ourselves with. If your scrolling through Instagram and you pass someone who makes you feel less than, or makes your gut turn, do yourself a favor and unfollow them. Maybe your jealous, maybe you had a bad past with that person but never unfollowed them because your too nice or you "aren't that person who unfollows people because of conflict" but whatever the reason, if you ever feel anything less than joyful when doing anything stop doing it. Geez, why are you putting yourself through that? It will just lead to you being "fake" and "fake" isn't going to make us happy.

To start on this mission of surrounding our self with beauty, it starts with the people around you. Find those who believe in you. People who value their time with you. Laugh more than you argue, dance more than you cry, find new adventures more than you sit around on your phone.

The people who truly want what is best for you will do anything to help you learn how to be the best person for yourself. I unfortunately learned this the hard way and trust me if you want to learn how to be "happy" all the time and confident in your own skin take my advice. Keep moving forward in joy. Never look back, someone will be there to catch you before you fall and their name is *insert your name here*.

Look at yourself in the mirror EVERYDAY and tell yourself "You are beautiful... you can do anything... don't let anyone ruin your day", it is going to feel silly and ridiculous at first but believe me you will feel the difference.

And for my last Tip: Don't watch other people live the life you want to live, your life will fade away faster than you can say "boomshakalaka". But seriously lets find happiness together.

O u t f i t:

This week I chose something elegant and dreamy. Surrounded in black lace is my way of feeling sexy and powerful in my own body. It makes me feel like I can walk into any bank and request $5000.00...but of course no one would grant it because I don't have that in my bank account, But the point is I feel like a million bucks and that makes me happy.

To start on this venture, finding this dress was not easy. I purchased this from a thrift store where I searched and searched through all the racks picking through every hanger and every pile of clothing I saw. This dress is all lace/netting with poca-dots decorating the whole dress. Underneath I have a silk-like thin strapped dress that comes to the knee.

This see through netted dress is the brand twenty one. Which I am not sure if that is forever 21? But it does not say were it was made or the material it is made out of so that is a downfall for me but it is still so beautiful. You can see more details in other pics.

The slip dress underneath is from Target! I loved this dress so much I wanted it in every color. The brand is 'a . new day' , classic target brand. It was made in Vietnam and is 100% Polyester. Polyester is not the most sustainable material to make clothes out of but it does feel great on the skin. We will have to find some alternatives to that fabric.

I am staring these accessories with the best in my opinion. I know you should always save the

best for last but I couldn't with this one. This is one of my favorite watches, it is so timeless (lol get it) and elegant. I was gifted this watch a few Christmas's ago by an old friend from high school and I have cherished it for a couple years now. Whenever I want to spice up a look, this is my go to watch. Speaking of incredible things, THESE SHOES! Oh my gosh how cute are these. I thrifted these at the same place I go the dress. They have NEVER been worn and are in perfect condition. The brand is Just fab and they were made in china. I know because even the bottom stickers were still on. I love the poca-dot pattern it has that matches the dress so well. These I just could not say no too. and they were only $6.00!

My favorite bags are black. Its not noticeable if it gets a small scratch or marks and they go with everything! This circle bag has been at my side for a while now. I got this bag at Burlington. The brand is Kenzie. If you are looking for new ways to spice up your look, find different shaped bags or textured bags that people don't think of. By textured I mean materials, don't just look for leather bags look for fabric or bamboo something different. Stand out babe! I love how fashionable I feel when I have this bag on me.

And lastly we cant forget my classic eye balls. I will be getting new glasses soon but these babies are juts the vintage vibe I needed to pull this look off! These guys are my personality and I can not leave the house without the or else a whole new Nicole comes out and I don't know if the world is ready for her.
